Abstract
A unique methodology in nutrition research, nutritional fingerprints amalgamate metabolomics, gut microbiota characterization, and nutritional markers to ascertain individual responses to various diets. This inquiry focuses on the scientific foundations, therapeutic applications, and integration with pharmacological treatments, challenges, and future possibilities of nutritional fingerprints. Nutritional fingerprints provide individualized dietary recommendations that enhance health outcomes, transcending conventional ``one-size-fits-all'' legislation. Metabolomics clarifies the comprehensive physiological impacts of food, whereas nutritional biomarkers provide definitive evidence of dietary intake. Nutritional fingerprints may enhance personalized meal planning, diabetes and obesity therapy, and nutritional pharmacology. Besides their nutritional advantages, they may also aid in the prevention of illnesses such as metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancers associated with an inadequate diet. Pharmacological weight loss interventions may be more effective and safer when including food profiles to identify responders. But there are still a few problems to solve, such as genetic and cultural differences, the high expense of omics-based analysis, and the necessity for long-term research. The future of precision nutrition will be shaped by the use of artificial intelligence for data integration, the addition of nutritional fingerprints to tailored treatment, and the inclusion of these fingerprints in public health policy. These advancements underscore nutritional fingerprints as a transformative framework that might alter healthcare, shifting the focus from disease treatment to individualized prevention. The aim of this study is to investigate the role of nutritional fingerprints in shaping personalized nutrition strategies and their potential to prevent chronic diseases.
